March 2015

The main focus of training this month was two-fold. In preparation for an attempt at the 100 Mile World Record and 12 Hour World Record in April, I began the month with some high mileage and intensity. The second half of the month began a gradual taper period. The weather was much improved compared to the frigid temperatures we received in February. In fact, we even received a week of bliss where the temps drifted up towards 70.

Go-to products for March

Altra Instinct 3.0 and 2.0 - I have been loving these two models of the Instinct for long runs and recovery runs. They provide the perfect middle ground between no cushion and max cushion, all while maintaining the zero drop and wide toe box features. Since I spent nearly all my time running on the roads, these shoes were a great option.
Vespa CV-25 - I did quite a bit fewer intensity sessions, so I went with the Vespa Power Product option that has less carbs in it (Vespa Junior has a small amount of orange juice (33 cal.) compared to the CV-25 (18 cal.).
